Kraken Parent Payward Links With Singapore Gulf Bank for Round-the-Clock Settlement
Payward integrates SGB Net to offer institutional clients in Asia and the Gulf instant digital asset settlement at any hour.
Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has forged a partnership with Singapore Gulf Bank to enable 24-hour, seven-day-a-week settlement for institutional digital asset markets across Asia and the Gulf region. The integration centers on SGB Net, the bank's proprietary real-time clearing network, which eliminates traditional settlement windows that have long constrained institutional trading activity.
The agreement addresses a persistent operational gap in institutional crypto markets, where settlement delays tied to conventional banking hours have complicated liquidity management and risk exposure for large-scale participants. By connecting Payward's infrastructure directly to SGB Net, institutional clients in both regions can now execute and finalize transactions at any time, including outside normal business hours and on weekends.

As part of the broader arrangement, Singapore Gulf Bank will also onboard Kraken Prime — Kraken's institutional trading arm — as an additional source of digital asset liquidity. That move is expected to deepen the pool of tradeable assets available to institutional counterparties operating through the bank's clearing network, potentially tightening spreads and improving execution quality for participants.
The partnership reflects a wider industry push to bring settlement infrastructure in line with the always-on nature of cryptocurrency markets, which trade continuously unlike traditional equities or fixed-income venues. For institutions managing exposure across time zones spanning the Gulf Cooperation Council and Asia-Pacific markets, around-the-clock finality has become an increasingly critical operational requirement.
